On Sunday, September 24, around twenty Lees-McRae international students enjoyed “real Southern cooking” at the Dan’l Boone Inn with about a dozen church members. We had great conversation, way too much food and lots of fun. These delightful young people come from countries and cultures all over the world (Denmark, Sweden, Northern Ireland, Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Ivory Coast, the Bahamas, Nigeria, and South Africa…plus a few others).
One student exclaimed “Is THIS fried chicken? I’ve never had fried chicken like this!!” And another added, “Ooooh, I love these cooked apples…I want to take some home!” It was a wonderful evening; we hope to have other events for these exceptional students, so stay tuned for the next adventure.
Many thanks to each of you who helped fund this special meal. It was greatly appreciated!
